Adventures in Deptford Creek

Date: 15th Feb 2022 Author: Katie Sturgess

Scouts and senior Cubs had a great adventure at low tide in Deptford Creek, with the Creekside Discovery Centre. We pulled on our waders and headed into the mud, to learn about the wildife, habitat and history of the creek. We did some pond dipping and identified the creatures we found. In the afternoon we did a STEM session and learned about Biomimetics. Thanks to the Creekside Discovery Centre for a great day out, and to our volunteers who came to join the fun. It’s brilliant to have adventures on our doorstep.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
