Peak District Adventure

Epic Cub posing in Edale valley
Five Cubs and five Scouts went to the Peak District for a weekend of hiking. We arrived at our accommodation in Sheffield to be greeted by hot chocolate and biscuits before trying to go to sleep, even though we were really excited!
The next morning we all packed our bags to go hiking and got on the minibus to drive to our starting points.
The Cubs were dropped off in Castleton with leaders Eagle and Raven to head for the Broken Road that would lead us to Mam Tor. The Cubs were very interested in the Broken Road and had lots of fun leaning on the wind at the Top of Mam Tor!

A fun climb up Grindsbrook

At the trig at Kinder Low

Across the Kinder Plateau to the Downfall (it was so windy, it was going up!)
The Cubs and Scouts had ice-cream in Edale before heading back to Base.
That evening Edale Mountain Rescue came to talk to us about what they do. They showed us their kit and in return they got lots of questions!
On the second day everybody hiked together along Stanage Edge to the High Neb trig point, where Hikes Away badges were presented. We then walked back to the minibus for the long drive home.
We had a great time and definitely made some memories. Thank you to the adults who spent the weekend with us so that we could do this trip.
