Our history

The First New Cross Scout Group was formed in January 1908 on Besson Street, New Cross with one patrol – the Peacocks.

They were registered in May 1908 with Robert Baden-Powell (before he even registered his own troop). In the August bank-holiday 7 youngsters ( 6 of which were only 12) pulled a trek-cart from New Cross to Maidstone, camped over night and then pulled it back.
