Intercamp 2026 Czechia
Intercamp is an international scout camp held every year at a different location in Europe. It is a weekend where thousands of Scouts meet to take part in a long weekend programme, to develop international understanding and friendship through scouting activities, hiking and fellowship.
10 Explorers, 2 Scouts and 3 leaders travelled to Intercamp in Czechia. After a smooth flight to Prague and a quick stop at the Skautský Institut, we travelled onward to the Intercamp site to meet our hosts – Scouting Burgemeester Welschen, a friendly Scout group from the Netherlands. We pitched our tents, then cooked dinner for them. It was a meal chosen by the Explorers – bangers, mash, gravy and peas, with English mustard!
The trading of scarves and badges started as soon as we arrived, with Explorers collecting scarves from Poland, Czechia and Georgia to name a few. We enjoyed the live music that night, excited to be in Czechia and at Intercamp alongside thousands of other Scouts from all over Europe.

The plaza
The next morning we enjoyed some traditional Dutch fare – Hagelslag! We all headed to the opening ceremony, which was an electric atomosphere and we found it interesting to see all the different Scout uniforms. On this day we explored the plaza and took part in the team-building activities on site. Saturday night at Intercamp is pot-luck dinner, where you serve something from your home country, and also wander about trying all the food on offer. We served hundreds of cups of tea with biscuits chosen by the unit – custard creams and bourbons!

Evening music
The next day was a 17km hike in the forest. We explored and really enjoyed the trails in the forest, especially as it was a hot day. After that, we enjoyed a delicious dinner with our hosts, then watched the live band and then enjoyed soda and crisps with our Dutch hosts.

A special moment to say goodbye
On the final morning, we headed to the opening ceremony to say goodbye to Intercamp and to our hosts. Final trading happened, and our Explorers exchanged contact details with new found friends. We packed up, then boarded a bus heading back to Prague to spend the afternoon exploring. First stop was lunch at Havelská koruna – Česká kuchyně for some traditional home cooked food. We tried potato dumplings, goulash, cucumber salads, schitzel and some delicious sweet dumplings and custard for dessert – it was just what a group of tired adventurers needed!
Prague is a great city, we all agreed we’d like to return to explore some more one day.

Travelling home after a great adventure.
We’d like to say a big thank you to Arno, Alexander, Berkan, Joost, Kyan, Maarten, Madelief and all of Scouting Burgemeester Welschen for kindly hosting us at Intercamp! Thank you to Skippy and Gavin for driving us to and from the airport in the middle of the night – we owe you a big favour! Thank you to Fletch, UK rep at Intercamp for helping us with all our preparations. Thank you to all the Intercamp volunteers who make this such an amazing event for young people to be part of. Finally, a huge thank you to our own Explorer team for making this adventure happen and for all the hard work that goes in behind the scenes.
Well done to our 12 Explorer adventurers for embracing the experience and being so fun and keen to be involved, especially our patrol leaders.

Thanks to our volunteers!
