Family Karaoke Night, 2019

Date: 24th Oct 2019 Author: 1st New Cross

Hi, my names Peter, known as Baloo to the Beaver’s.

I had an idea for a fundraising event and after agreeing on a date with the committee I began organizing a family karaoke night.

Michelle and Dave were running the bar and kitchen keeping us refreshed with drinks and snacks throughout the night. Stacey was on the door taking the entrance fees, Debbie selling raffle tickets while juggling cakes for the explorer’s cake sale for their Kenya trip. Katie was clicking away all night with her camera documenting the event with pictures.

And of course, you had Rodney’s Party’s sponsoring the music which was all put together by Luke with help from Tyler on the night.

Oh yeah, you had me running around with a mic in my 50’s style teddy boy outfit with huge black hair asking who’s next, and the song requests kept coming in all night.

I had not done anything like this before and was not sure how it would go but with my amazement, it went really well. with compliments from parents and other leaders made it worthwhile putting the effort in.

Everyone had a fantastic time singing away and that’s what I call a successful night. Just shows you what happens when you all pull together and hope to see the same thing at future events.

Before I go, I would like to thank everybody who came and participated and to everyone who helped and cleaned up afterwards.

Any comments about this event please post them on our facebook page.

I am already thinking about the next event….. watch this space.

Thank You for your support,

Baloo
