(1957 - 2011)
Dawn, who was the wife of our 2010 Group Scout Leader, was involved with Scouting in a number of ways. From 1984 Dawn was involved with both 8th Brockley and First New Cross Scout Groups serving on the Group Executive Committee, as a Trustee and as a habitual fundraiser always being in the thick of things.
In 1991 she went into uniform and became the Scout Leader at First New Cross where her daughter was the First Girl Scout in the District. It was Dawn who first encouraged our Group Scout Leader to go into uniform and after about a year she stepped down to Assistant Scout Leader so that she could fully utilise her time, with Brian taking on the Leader role going forward.
Due to family commitments Dawn came out of uniform in 1996 but remained a full supporter of the Group on the Group Executive Committee and especially through fundraising.
Dawn was not the most academically gifted of people but had common sense in abundance, was the type of person who spoke their mind and was not afraid to tackle anybody if they were in the wrong. She was a bubbly character who seemed to have nicknames for everybody and could bring cheer to a previously gloomy situation. She had the ability to make you feel special whether you were very young or very old. That type of caring can only come from within.
